Healthy GrandFamilies workshops

  • OverviewThe introductory presentation for the workshop series.
  • Workshop 1: Healthy KitchensWorkshop 1: Healthy Kitchens gives grandparents ways to make smart, healthy choices at the supermarket, and to buy, eat, and cook more fruits and vegetables.
  • Workshop 2: Healthy MessagesWorkshop 2: Healthy Messages features ways to interact with grandchildren about healthy eating using positive messages. It demonstrates ways, for example, to offer more low-fat milk products and water instead of sugar-sweetened beverages that children often want/crave.
  • Workshop 3: Healthy PortionsWorkshop 3: Healthy Portions provides grandparents with easy, fun ways to reduce portion sizes served to grandchildren and themselves by using smaller plates, bowls and cups. The ABCs of Reading Food Labels is also part of Workshop 2. Healthy positive messaging is also a part of this session.
  • Workshop 4: Healthy Screen TimeWorkshop 4: Healthy Screen Time helps grandparents and grandchildren get up off the couch to reduce their grandchildren’s TV and computer/video screen time and engage in fun alternative activities. Healthy positive messaging is also a part of this session.
  • Workshop 5: Healthy ActivitiesWorkshop 5: Healthy Activities focuses on how to get grandchildren to increase a variety of healthy physical activities. It also provides helpful tips on adequate sleep time for their grandchildren. Healthy positive messaging is also a part of this session.
  • Workshop 6: Healthy Eating In and Eating OutWorkshop 6: Healthy Eating In and Eating Out shows how to prepare easy, quick healthy recipes at home and how to order healthy foods and beverages when eating out. Healthy positive messaging is also a part of this session.
